Hi everyone!
Slowly but surely autumn is here: indoor activities, good seasonal meals, chilling :) It’s always been a season that i liked, because it feels good to be home + i love that dimmed light ambiance! I often say to myself that i’d love it if the light could always be like that outside.
I present you today the Ibanez Dual Digital Delay 1000, made in Japan by Maxon, it came out in November 1985, almost 33 years ago. It is such a great sounding piece. If you’re trying to get an authentic shoegaze sound, get one of these, and you’ll have it :)
It made me think that it’s so cool that the Maxon guys did that thing 33 years ago, and here i am sampling it to make sure its sound is preserved and available online. I love honoring old pieces of gear like that, and also the human work that made it a reality.
You'll find 384 captures, every preset is both mono and stereo.
Let’s dive in, dual delay means:
A side is a short delay + an LFO (with rate and depth controls) which allows you to make any time mod effects, such as phaser, flanger, chorus… Its time selection range from 4 msecs to 256 msecs + a time knob to shorten or lengthen it.
B side is a long delay. it’s time selection ranges from 16 msecs to 1024 msecs + a time knob to shorten or lengthen it.
The A side has a mix out + an inverted out, the B side has only a mix out, i wanted to see if the inv out from the A side would provide me with a stereo out, alleviating my burden by a half (only one stereo capture instead of two mono). And it did! So i ran the B side into the A side, made sure that no fuck ups would happen due to phasing problems when doing impulses of things that aren’t delays or reverbs, and here we are :)
Have fun with it!
